Douglas Ely

“If the dress makes the wedding,
the jewellery makes the dress”

Douglas Ely is not your average jewellery designer.

He’s fresh, innovative, and completely and utterly unique.

He’s creative and talented.

And he’s singlehandedly redefining quality standards in bridal jewellery.

There’s a reason why Douglas is the designer of choice for not only brides-to- be, but also

women looking to add custom-designed jewellery to their collection.

Jewellery is in his blood

Part of the talented Ely family, who have been providing world-class custom jewellery designs

for over 40 years, Douglas has been born and bred a jeweller. His passion for the industry is

evident – winning the 2013 International Showcase Design Awards in the creative design

category, and following on with coming first in NSW; Cert III in Jewellery Manufacturing.

TAFE NSW also awarded him the prestigious Overall Excellence Award in 2014 and he

completed his trade 12 months faster than his peers.

An incredible talent

Selected to represent NSW in Jewellery Design at WorldSkills Australia, the national’s

premier trades and skills competition, Douglas secured runner-up against the most talented

and progressive young jewellers in Australia. He has quickly cemented a name for himself as

a young designer brimming with creativity, passion and incredible talent.

A unique approach

When you’re working with Douglas, you’ll enjoy the entire experience. He offers suggestions,

sketches ideas, and works closely with you to create a design that is 100% yours. No

imitations, just original concepts that are hand-drawn and heart-felt.

He’s a true storyteller. Because for Douglas, jewellery design is as much about the design as

it is about the story it tells.

“For bridal jewellery, it’s often the little things that only the couple knows about. Sometimes we hide small diamonds, other times we engrave fingerprints. It’s about celebrating the individuality of each couple”

It’s your love story – make sure you choose the right storyteller

For the bride and groom-to- be, planning for a wedding can be overwhelming. Too often they

focus on the chapter that is the wedding, rather than the story that is their love. This is where

Douglas can help.

“You don’t design an engagement ring to wear on its own. In a few years you’ll add a wedding

band, and then possibly an eternity ring.”

“The key is to look at the engagement ring as one chapter in your story – it’s all part of a

larger set, and the goal is to make sure that set works together. Forever.”
