Edox Watches

Edox began back in 1883 with a simple love story. Christian Rufli-Flury, then an exceptionally gifted watchmaker in Granges, Switzerland, gave his wife a pocket watch that he had designed himself for her 25th birthday. She was so touched and impressed that she convinced him to begin his own watchmaking company in 1884. He named the company Edox – meaning “hour” in ancient Greek.

For over 125 years Edox’s existence has been marked with success and horological inventions, some of which remain unrivalled today. In 1961 Edox became the benchmark for water resistance with the launch of its Delfin model, a revolutionary timepiece that was water-resistant for 200m. The brand achieved major success also with the famous Les Bemonts Ultra Slim watch released in 1988 – today it still holds the record for the world’s slimmest calendar watch measuring a mere 1.4mm thick And later in 2006, Edox launched a collection of sports watches – water-resistant to 500m and incorporating materials derived from aerospace research.

In 2009 the brand celebrated their 125th anniversary and today they remain as the “Timekeeper for Champions,” with official timekeeping agreements with the Dakar Rally, the Class-1 Powerboat World Championships and the Extreme Sailing Series. Edox is an autonomous and independent Swiss watch brand that has offered elegance, dynamism and technical innovation for over 125 years.
